Discoverability

In “The Myth of Discoverability,” Scott Berkun discusses the fact that you can’t make everything discoverable in your UI due to a number of constraints. These constraints include such limitations as finite screen real estate plus user attention spans and their abilities to perceive or understand things. He then goes on to explain how to decide what to make discoverable and when you’ve done that, ways to draw attention to these high priority items. Good article. Go read it.
