In O'Reilly Network: Quick and Dirty Topic Mapping [Feb. 04, 2002] Jon Udell's starts off with a mapping file with a list of URLs to categorize then uses a perl script to turn the mapping file into a database that drives the topic visualizer. The "database" is really just a persistent Perl hashtable. Uses LWP::Simple and Data::Dumper.
